Christmas Hampers Can Be A Great Personal Gift This Christmas

by Melissa Andrews

When it comes to Christmas there are some gifts that can always be relied on to bring a smile to people's faces. If you can give a personal touch to your gifts then this can make presents even better. Christmas hampers are one of those gifts that can be given to friends and family and can be tailor made or even themed to suit the person receiving the gift.

Most hampers come in a traditional basket however this does not need to be the case. Perhaps you can decorate a simple cardboard box with some ribbon or Christmas paper. But if you are looking to make it special an old fashioned picnic basket can be a great touch and can often be picked up in charity shops for not much money at all. These make the hampers sturdier so they can even be sent through the post to relatives who live further away.

Add some decorative straw or shredded paper filler from a gift or stationary shop so that you can easily display the goodies. If your basket doesn't have a lid, you might want to buy some clear cellophane and bright ribbon to keep everything together.

Jams chutneys and pickles can be jarred up and added to your hamper. If you are a baker then you can also make your own mice pies or cakes to add to the hamper which can give them a great personal touch.

Often hampers might contain a bottle of wine or a spirit but if you are creating your own then try and find out what drink the recipient might prefer that way you can add their favourite bottle of wine that will give it a personal touch. If they are not drinkers then perhaps you might be able to add a nice variety of tea or coffee for them to enjoy over the Christmas period.

If making a hamper for a child, or group of children, be sure to include something creative that will keep them busy on Christmas day. You could include arts and crafts materials, everything they need to make their own Christmas decorations, or even to bake their own Christmas biscuits.

If you don't have the time or the inclination to create your own Christmas hampers then there are a number of shops and websites that let you create your own hamper and to personalise them with the products of your own choice. If you are wondering what to buy that one person you always struggle to buy for then why not try getting them a hamper this year. - 39969
